"I'm living in an age
That calls darkness light
Though my language is dead
Still the shapes fill my head"

My Body Is a Cage-Arcade Fire

Scattered through the abandoned warehouse were the metallic corpses of Sniper Joes. Metal of mainly green and silver was strewn throughout the already filthy floor. From the rafters hung cobwebs and old ropes and pulleys. Some pallet lifters that had not been used for over a decade were also in the area. The building felt much like an arena, with three floors of catwalks surrounding the battlefield.

The only surviving robot of the ordeal walked through the wreckage, kicking helmets, shields, and other robotic body parts as he made his way to the upper levels of the warehouse. He climbed a metal ladder to the second floor, working swiftly but carefully as he concealed video cameras among the abandoned crates and products from each side of the room. The robot climbed up another floor, and did the same with another set of cameras.

As the last camera was placed, the robot began to feel the softest of rumble. It wasn't an earthquake, but it was reason to fear in itself.

The bot activated the cameras and rushed to leave the warehouse to a parked van about two blocks away from the abandoned warehouse. The bot knocked on the door, and a female robot opened up the door.

"Is everything ready?" She asked.

The robot nodded, climbed inside, and opened up a laptop to do a live feed from the cameras.

"Is this going to work?" The female bot asked again.

"It better, for finding the right place to both fight Joes and set up cameras has been troublesome. Not to mention the past few times we felt there was a chance, nothing happened"

The cameras were both recording the warehouse and the screen of the laptop was being recorded just incase the cameras were destroyed.

"Are you sure this time?"

"I'm pretty sure, I felt a rumble as I set up the last camera"

The vibrations of the ground were present in the video, as both the cameras and the broken Joes shook.

"C'mon...c'mon...we need some visual evidence here!"

As the shaking intensified, a crack began to appear on the middle of the floor with a drill bit beginning to emerge.

"Does the subway go this far?"

"No, and if this bot want's to retain it's mythical status it can't be using a system that will ruin that"

The drill continued to emerge from the ground, growing larger as it continued it's breakneck speed.

Just then, the drill broke through the pavement completely and a large cylinder about as wide as a farming silo began to protrude from the ground.

"I think this is it!"

The cylinder began to raise to about eight feet tall, was made of a once glistening metal and had a pair of metal sliding doors. The doors opened, and four Sniper Joes exited.

The Joes were not pristine in any regard however. Only one had all of it's original limbs intact, but the armor on the body had been stripped off. The other robots were in worse shape. One hat a Met for a head, another had a pair of legs removed from a police robot, and the final one had most of his head shot clean off.

While Sniper Joes are known for their appearance of a singular red eye, their visual sensor was glowing at an intense crimson color. Even the one with the head of the Met had red eyes.

"What are they going to do brother?"

"If my guesses are correct, they're going to bring the bodies of the Joes I just killed into the cylinder"

And that they did. Slowly and methodically, they picked up the Joes by a limb and started to drag them into the cylinder. It almost seemed sorrowful, as if the dead were bringing the recently deceased into their domain.

The sister bot smiled "With this footage, you'd make our father proud"

"I know. None of the police believed the evidence that he presented. With this we'd be able to prove that he was right"

The process slowly continued, the Joes unceremoniously and unemotionally dragged each of the robotic husks into the cylinder.

None of the broken pieces that fell from the broken Joes such as shields, limbs, or heads were brought into the cylinder. They were just left there for some possible scavenger to pick them up and sell them for a tawdry price.

As the last deceased husk of a Joe was dragged into the cylinder, it descended back into the ground with the dirt that was removed refilling the hole with the vibrations.

"Ok. we're good. Let's go get the cameras"

"Are you sure we need to brother? I mean, we already have the footage on these laptops"

"The cameras were expensive, and if we want to get more evidence again we're going to need to get the cameras"

The sister robot sighed as she opened the door of the van to let the two exit.

"Are you sure we have enough footage brother?"

"No. Not unless I can get footage of the robot who is responsible"

"Are you sure it's a singular robot?"

"I'm certain" the boy robot replied as he pulled out a scrap of paper "This is the robot who's responsible"

The sister bot took the scrap of paper and looked at it.

"This is Cage Man" the brother spoke "or at least our father's rough sketch of it. After his creation, Cage Man stole all the blueprints and files; so our dad had to draw this from memory"

"Why have you never shown me this?"

The brother sighed "I was concerned for you"

The sister took another look at the robot. The torso was shaped like a pot belly stove and had a checkered design, while the head could be compared to the helmet of a knight with a cross on the top and an arrow pointing down that separated the eyes.

"Why is he a threat?"

"You saw what the robots did to the Joes. Cage is building a personal army, but who knows what for?"

The two robots entered the warehouse and began to climb up the catwalks to retrieve the cameras, and started making their way up to the third floor of the catwalks. The two robots put the cameras inside their chest cavities, using them to temporarily store them until they returned to the van.

When they finished with the third floor and made their way to the second, a soft rumble could be felt.

"Is it him?" The sister asked.

"Probably! Let's ditch the cameras and bail!"

The two rushed down to the first catwalk as the rumbling increased in strength. As they got to the ground floor, the recently turned earth exploded upwards with a pair of cages protruding from the hole.

"It's Cage alright! RUN!"

No sooner did the words leave the brother's mouth did a cage land upon his body. Another tried to get the sister but it was stopped due to the catwalk shielding her from capture.

"Brother!" She was about to run to save her brother, but the pounding of another cage blocked her path.

"Just run! Get out of here!" The brother shouted.

"I'm not losing you!"

Wires began to come out of the base and the top of the cage, attaching themselves to the robot.

"EEEAUGH! J-JUST-T R-RUN!"

The sister gathered her courage and ran outside of the warehouse. Her brother's screaming increased to a painful volume that ceased to be dampened by the shaking of the warehouse.

She made her way back to the van to watch the rest of the scene from the cameras that were still planted. From the video feed, she saw the torture that her brother was going through.

"Oh brother..." she whimpered.

As the torture continued, the cylinder from before entered the room from below the ground. The doors slid open, allowing a unfamiliar robot to exit with a pair of reprogrammed Joe guards.

"Cage Man" She muttered as she watched the scene unfold.

The potbellied robot slowly made his way to the cage, taking heavy steps to move to where the robot was being tortured.

"How wonderful to finally have you..." Cage Man spoke in a deep voice "...in my grasp"

The brother struggled in his cage "What do you want with me?"

Cage Man remained stone faced "I usually don't do this...come out into the open, but you've impressed me..."

"What? I don't understand"

"You've resisted my genius for some time now, trying to prove that I not only exist...but that I'm also a lunatic"

"You're insane Cage Man! Even the maddest of the mad would be able to see that!"

"Bass is a lunatic. I am just...misunderstood. They don't see the benefit of assimilation"

"There is no benefit to assimilation!" The brother shouted as he struggled.

"Really? The humans have seemed to master it by having people choose assimilation. People eat the same food, wear the same clothing, use the same electronics...think the same thoughts. Though I will admit, I am a bit...forceful in my methods"

The brother screamed in torture as a cable went inside his main core. The sister, still watching from the van, was horrified at the pain her brother was enduring.

"Where's your sister?" Cage Man asked "Is she...safe?"

The brother screamed "Don't do anything to her! She can't hurt you!"

Cage Man glanced around the abandoned warehouse.

"I will find her..." Cage Man coldly stated "and she'll be just like what you'll become..."

Cage Man motioned to the broken Joes to go back into the cylinder. With a loud rumbling, the cylinder began to descend and the cage containing the brother went down the hole.

The sister watched the whole thing with tears in her eyes.

"Brother..." she whimpered.

She was alone inside the van. The whole endeavor was her brother's doing, he was the robot who knew the truth of Cage Man and the one who set up all of these searches. Now she had nothing.

But as she collected her thoughts, she looked around the van with the video recordings of the incident. She smiled slightly as she regained her confidence and made her way to the driver's seat of the van. She started the engine and began to hover into the air. She had the evidence of Cage Man's evils, and had to make sure they were placed into the right hands. A press of the GPS directed her to the police station.

"This is for you brother"
My half of and Art Trade with :iconimbisiol:.

He wanted me to do a story about his character Cage Man, as seen in this image.

The brother and sister are no characters in particular, I just needed some disposable characters.

Holy shit, that was awesome! As expected!

The feeling of anticipation while they were setting up is just so exciting! Up to the mysterious and wonderfully detailed sight of Cage's "things" working. Then the almost euphoric scramble while the two pack up. Leading to the sudden and brutal attack they received. And I must say... the way you showed Cage's character, even though I just gave you a few details about him, is so spot on! He felt so terrifying while he was calmly speaking. Almost reminds me of Hannibal, which is one of my inspirations for the character. XD

What a roller coaster ride! Love it! Thank you for the trade! :w00t:
